Jackson Hole Anglers
Fishing Report
August 21, 2008
The Jackson Hole Anglers Fly Fishing Report is updated
often throughout the season. Please check here regularly
for current fishing conditions, what the trout are feeding on,
and flies to use.
Snake River:
It's Hopper time here in the Rockies. On the Snake
and most other area waters fishing a large hopper pattern
close to the bank will bring out the big boys. Popular
patterns include the Grand Hopper, Marshmallow Hopper, and
Rainey Hopper. Try tan, green, or yellow hoppers.
Dropping a nymph off the back of one will bring in fish during
the lulls. Remember to get your hopper close to the
bank. 1 foot off the bank is too far.
Snake River Tributaries:
The tribs are now clear and fishing extremely well.
Attractors such as Turks Tarantulas and Chernobyl Ants, as
well as most hopper patterns will
bring out big fish.
Green River:
The Green has slowed a bit with the summer heat.
Mornings and evenings are the best here.
Flat Creek:
Flat Creek is open. There is good action on hoppers and a variety of mayflies.
These large trout are very smart, so long 6X leaders and a
delicate approach and presentation are a must. Give us a
call to set up a guided trip on this legendary stream.
Firehole River:
The Firehole is pretty tough now. Focus your
attention elsewhere. Caddis, PMDs, and hoppers are what
to try.
Jackson Hole Anglers guides fishing trips on all of the
above rivers. We offer both fly fishing and spin fishing
trips on many waters in the Jackson Hole area and throughout
western Wyoming. Give us a call for an unforgettable
fishing experience in Jackson Hole.
